The Coronavirus outbreak has left many searching for answers and reasons as to how these vile things could be happening. The newest theory: 5g technology. For a while now, the United States and China had begun another cold war in a race to build 5g data technology. These faster internet speeds would decrease download times, allow self-driving cars to connect data and traffic, and even revolutionize healthcare- not to mention the economic benefit from smarter machines or virtual reality.

Huawei, a Chinese company blacklisted from Google on espionage and surveillance claims, is the leading supplier with many towers occupying populated parts of China. The addition of cells and RF radiation is a great concern with this new technology, not necessarily through the towers themselves but through one’s cellphone. With Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile 5g towers in Chicago, it is important to truly inform this community. The health implications are hotly debated since all of this is fairly new, and the Chinese population has long been plagued with diseases and respiratory issues. It is especially difficult to find data since most would come from China, the first country to have it, and there is a history of lying about medical records and statistics concerning a range of issues. However, 5g towers may allow greater risks in the long run since cell towers are less secure, releasing data to malicious groups. Corporations are currently trying to mute the situation- Youtube is suppressing content promoting any theories. While it may be to reduce another public freakout during this already unstable period of time, it is not in the public’s best interest to allow our news and information to be catered this way which is the true danger to our society.
